Just down the road from us (not much more than a stone’s throw) is Mt Cannibal – a favourite walk amongst us locals.
It’s a quiet walking trail up and over the granite hill – we do it early morning. You can work up an appetite while taking in some sweeping views of West Gippsland and neighbouring area. It’s picture perfect (dare we say insta worthy?). Check out the pics of Mt Cannibal on Trip Advisor here.
The walk itself takes around 45 minutes, depending how many times you stop and look. It is steep in spots, with the hiking trail well established, and includes steps. There is good parking at the base, with public toilets and signage. Then head over to the Vineyard for lunch when you’re done!
Other local Walks near Mt Cannibal!
Firstly, we also recommend Buttongrass Walk up in Bunyip. This walk only goes for around 50 minutes, and is around 3.5km with a track that is well preserved and relatively flat. The circuit takes you along the beautiful woodland and wet heathland; The diversity of the flora and fauna will have you in awe.
For those a little more adventurous, we recommend Four Brothers Rocks, also in the Bunyip State Forest. The 13.9km hike is definitely for those looking for more of a challenge. It will approximately take 5 hours to complete, and is a grade 3 circuit hike. It offers stunning views across the park.
Why not make a day of it! There are plenty of beautiful spots around Gippsland that will quickly fill up an itinerary. We would be happy to offer advice as you plan your day, and we’ll be waiting with a glass of something chilled on your return. Click here to make a booking for lunch or a tasting!
