Vin de Liqueur 2016
Cherry, violets, strawberry and subtle oak aromas. Dark cherry and spice with smooth wood aged brandy palate, finishing with some natural acidity balancing the palate.
Winter typical with very cool temperatures, heavy rainfall, some frost. Mild weather in early spring. Warm dry summer, stable and mild leading up to harvest.
Very good growing season. Soil sustainability initiatives and some late irrigation. Outstanding fruit quality, leaf thickness, shoot growth and balance in crop load. Harvest went smoothly. 9/10

“Modelled on Pineau de Charente according to the back label, albeit, made with pinot noir instead of ugni blanc, the fermentation was muted early in the piece with the addition of a pure, sinuous spirit. The fine choice of spirit defines this delicious elixir from fore to aft. Long, with an echo of pinot's crunchy red fruits echoing along its mid-drift, this is an unusual wine in Australia and a welcome addition to the landscape.” Rating 93/100
